Frisco - Hartsel
Die Radwege rund um Silverthorne sind sehr gepflegt - und mit Warn- und Hinweisschildern gepflastert. Offenbar grassiert hier der Wunsch, jedwede mögliche Klage von verunfallenden Radlern von vornherein zu verhindern nach dem Motto "Wir haben Dir gesagt, dass es jetzt abwärts geht und eine Kurve hat und du vorher bremsen solltest". Wir alle sind wegen diesem Übermass an Sorge zu uns Radlern amüsiert.
Die Halbinsel in der Nähe von Frisco mit dem wunderschön gelegenen Campingplatz bietet Singletrails vom Feinsten. Ein Ausflug dahin lohnt sich.
Kurz nach Breckenridge beginnt der Anstieg zum Boreas Pass. Der Weg folgt einer ehemaligen Bergbahnstrecke und ist mit seiner gleichmässigen Steigung gut zu befahren. Für Abwechslung sorgen Schilder zur Geschichte der Bahnstrecke und ab und zu ein historischer Wassertank. Hier hat man früher mal die schnaubenden Dampflokomotiven aufgefüllt.
In der Region von Silverthorne und Frisco liegen einige der berühmtesten Skigebiete der USA. Die zahlreich und breit für Skipisten in den Wald gehauenen Schneisen sehen wahrscheinlich nur im Winter richtig gut aus, aber wahrscheinlich nicht mal dann.
